On this week's "America's Next Top Model" we learned that this cycle, the show is going green...ish. Well, at least they'll be tooling around LA in a car running on biodiesel, the house is full of plants/recycled materials and the girls will be forced to take short, timed showers. To conserve water! Oh...and they're not allowed to smoke cigarettes...? Talk about one version of hell: living in a house of aspiring models who are forced to quit smoking. Well, that's one way to up the ratings with testy catfights!
This week the girls had to pretend to be super excited about a shopping spree at Old Navy (and put together a totally personalized outfit from the store's fabulous staples!) in addition to getting down to business with their photoshoot. The ridiculously preachy and heavy-handed theme of the shoot was the effects of smoking cigarettes. Seriously. The girls had to pose two ways: glamorous smoking and, in the mirror, ghastly from the side effects. Did you get the message? Smoking is BAD FOR YOU.

First of all, the Bianca vs. Lisa fight was classic "ANTM" material. It barely made sense and will hopefully carry over for many episodes. Also, did it seem a little, um, planned that Heather, the model with the disorder that affects her social interactions, was chosen to be in the only picture with multiple girls in it?
Saleisha won the Old Navy outfit picking contest, winning her a shopping spree and a modeling job in an Old Navy ad. The ad seems like a huge, nice surprise by "ANTM" standards — surprised they didn't stress it like a million times beforehand.
As for the photos, I kind of hated all of them, but if I had to choose a favorite it would probably be Ambreal. The bottom two were Ebony and Mila, and Mila got the boot. I kinda liked Miss Mila, but it's too early in the game to get attached to any of them.

I was actually surprised that Mila made the cut in the first place....so I think the right girl went home.
1I love ANTM, but I can't stand how there is such obvious advertisement/product placement shoved into the show! And while Tyra is always dramatic, sometimes she just becomes downright annoying.
Also, biodiesel vehicles aren't any better for the environment - they can be worse actually. It takes a ridiculous amount of space to grow the plants (corn, sugar cane) that are turned into biodiesels and that means more forests being chopped down.

yay! buzz i was waiting for you to post this. let's see, i think the bianca v. lisa fight was more hurtful than usual cat fights, witch bianca saying, "an exotic dancer can't be the next top model and a role model!" or something like that.
and how mean were the girls talking behind heather. it broke my heart when she called her mother and said that she didn't she could trust any of the girls. i was so HAPPY that she got to get picked first to continue.
with that said, i really liked lisa's photos. it was f-i-e-r-c-e!

4I LOVED Lisa's photo....I hope she wins! I hate the fug Bianca chick with her stupid red hair...and I knew Mila was gonna get sent home 15 minutes into it...there was something about the way they edited it that made me think that she'll get sent home. I kinda like the smoking ban.

It seemed like as soon as I said I liked Mila she was sent home, so I'm a little nervous about stating my favorites are Saleisha, Lisa, Ebony and Heather.

15Yeah, I agree, I was annoyed that they put Heather in the uncomfortable situation of the "second hand smoke" double pic. That was stupid. I really like her though, and I like Lisa. Bianca is awful, particularly when she straight out said that she was faking her apology to Lisa so it wouldn't come up in panel.
I'd really like to see some of these girls make friends with each other. Like, doesn't anyone think to be nice to Heather? I felt this way last cycle with Natasha. Like, why is no one friendly with this girl? Are models that catty and mean? Or is it just editing?
16I also agree with the idea that they put Heather in the only 2 person shot for a reason. Did they really need a two person shot?
After last night, I'm adding Victoria to my previous faves of Sarah and Heather.
That girl who was badmouthing Heather or at least starting the badmouthing needs to go home. Or her behavior needs to be addressed at panel or something.
17I think the right girl went home. I don't think she was particularly pretty and thought she was spacier than Heather. She really didn't seem to process what the judges were telling her. I really dislike the purple hair girl for picking a fight with Lisa and I dislike the one who the judges referred to as "hoochie" for talking smack about Heather. I'm rooting for Lisa, Heather, Saleisha and Chantal (in that order) and the rest are pretty forgettable.
18mila was not model material. they made the right choice. i think it is a good crop of girls overall, but lets face it. . .none of them are ever gonna be top models. if you haven't been discovered by the time you are 18 or over, especially if you live in a metropolis, you are not going to be a top model.
19My favorites are Heather,Lisa,Saleisha,Ambreal and Victoria (probably because she is mature and doesn't talk about Heather).
20For some reason, I thought that the Yale girl was going to try to befriend Heather or stick up for her but she didn't. I guess we'll have to wait and see in future episodes. By the way, I totally support the smoking ban. I do agree that sometimes Tyra is a bit preachy when she gets on her soapbox, but this time was for a good reason and I totally agree with her. Please stay away from those cancer sticks people!
21I really hated the whole concept/prechiness behind the episode. Yes, smoking is bad for you, yes, I don't like it, but I don't like when people shove things down your throat. Let them smoke if they want to. It's their decision in the end. I really like Chantal, dunno why, but she's grabbing me.
22lisa was amazing. i think her exotic dancing experience is a HUGE advantage, she obviously really knows how to move and position her body. and i see nothing wrong with it. bianca needs to go. and, obviously, TEAM HEATHER!!!! and, um, wasn't there another cycle with a girl from yale who couldn't shut up about it? get over yourself, honey.
23I thought that most of the pictures were actually good. I did not think Milla was pretty at all and I was surprised she even made the cut, so I was happy she went home. I liked Lisa's and Ambreal's pictures a lot, but Heather, Victoria, and Chantal are my early faves.
24Like everyone else I really like Heather, and I can't believe how horrible some of the other girls were to her. I kinda thought the Yale girl was going to stand up for her too, and she should have!

26even though i dont smoke, i think its kind of crazy that they totally banned smoking for the girls, i mean, if you don't want the younger girls that watch the show to see them smoke, edit some of those parts out, but all of them are adults and should be allowed to smoke if they want to.

i agree with nomerz about chantal...something about her is intriguing, and i really like her so far...lisa seems like she'll do well too....

I love Lisa she totally transforms in pictures... I can't stand Bianca she makes fun of Lisa for being a exoctic dancer but look at how she presents herself and her cheap red weave... she is def the worst. I also love the Yale girl for being mature and not catty.
28Lisa and Heather are my two favs too. They looked amazing in their photos.

30My favorites are Lisa & Ebony. MIla had a very strange look about her...and not model strange.
31I was very nauseated to see ANTM jump on the "save the earth" bandwagon this season. We are going Green ladies, so two squares of Toilet paper each, our weaves are biodegradible and this year we will throw Twiggy in the compost heap! As for the top model smoking ban, i have to say i am happy with that. Nothing kills me more than to watch these girls puff away, its so ugly.
32I dont have a favorite so far. I had no problem with them throwing heather in with Saleisha, if she plans on being a model she needs to get used to working with a partner. Autistic tendencies aside, she has alot to prove this cycle, and i dont think she is up to it.
One thing that bugged me was that they didn't seem to be too careful about how they put together the photo. Like... they would be in completely different poses and at different perspectives... it looked really off most of the time. I thought they were at least a little more attentive than that!
As for the smoking ban, I was surprised (well... I guess I really wasn't) that Tyra has become Dictator Tyra... but I agree that smoking is bad.
And I didn't like Mila, really, anyway, so I was glad she was gone. I want Heather or Lisa to win! And I'm eager for the makeovers....
33Mila SUUUCKED. During the shoot, she came off as a total ditz, laughing at herself done up as someone undergoing chemotherapy. "But I just think I look so funny!" Yeah, I'm sure that people who are actually undergoing chemo tell themselves that all the time, moron.
Of course, the whole concept of the shoot was pretty half-baked. The "before" shots still glamorized smoking, with the "after" shots being a sort of PC, uh, afterthought.
And what's with this being "a no-smoking CYCLE"? So, does that mean the next cycle won't be? Way to take a stand, Tyra!
34This season of ANTM is kinda making me hateful...
The only reason Mila went home is because she said that she doesn't cry and is happy all the time, which means that Tyra(nt) wouldn't get to pretend to be Oprah with her.
Personally I hate Ebony and Bianca and think that they should do another double elimination. And I am curious: why are all the "hood" girls with red hair so b*tchy?-> like Brandy (cycle 4) and now Bianca.
ANTM needs to stop with this preachy sh*te and cheesy photoshoots and produce some real fashion shots.

And on a side note: picking on Heather? Not cool. What do they also kick puppies and mock chemo patients in their spare time too?

36saleisha is my favorite! shes so cute..she reminds me of tyra which is probably why she'll get the boot. all of the tyra-look alikes in the past always get eliminated fast.
heather (the girl w/ aspbergers?) reminds me of Blake Lively (who plays Serena on Gossip Girl). i think if she had blonde hair they would be similar. or maybe i just had GG on the brain with the crazy amounts of advertising they had on during ANTM commercial breaks!
and i think the whole "green" them is so brown-nosey! ive never really had a problem with tyra but its kind of like the whole plus-size model thing. like she has them on the show and defends them bc she doesnt want people to think she discriminates against plus size models. the whole green thing is so for publicity!
37Oh, and Mila sucked. Her "runway" walk made me want to throw up in my mouth. "I feel like crying is a bit of a wasta of time." Go join a beauty pageant, Mila.
38hMm..i Have to say, i thought giving heather the first call out this week was a little disturbing...i thought lisa or chantal should have been given the honor, but hey, who am i to complain!!...
but contrary to popular belief, i think bianca is the b*tch this season rather than ebony..ebony really softened me up during her first interview...i really like the girl.
anyways...it was just having mila say "byebye", and i strongly disagree with ebony in the bottom 2, bianca should have been in the bottom 2...i would have preferred stiff (ebony) rather than confusion (bianca) about modeling...who does she think she is to say that the winner shouldnt be an exotic dancer...it proves one thing though, the girl thinks lisa is competition and it makes the show worthwhile,...day 1 and theres a catfight.. oooo...delicious!!
